Welcome to Through Her Wandering Eyes! I’m honored you’re taking time out of your day to read what I of all people have to say. Blogging is something I’ve wanted to dip my toes into but I never knew what I would write about or if anyone would read the darn thing. After years of the “what if” game and my recent acceptance into We Roam, I’ve decided it’s time to document my life/adventures.
Big shocker coming at you.. I have this desire to be on the road (or plane) hopping from state to state, country to country, exploring different cultures, eating new foods, making new friends and incorporating different styles into my wardrobe. For those of you who know me, I’m sure you’re thinking “tell me something new.” So all of that ⬆️ my dear readers is what I’ll be sharing with you. Aren’t you lucky?
We all have defining moments, events that shape or change us. I remember my first vacation like it was yesterday. At the age of 8, my parents took my sisters and I to Myrtle Beach. I have vivid memories of floating on a blue and yellow raft in the ocean and giggling to death as the waves would wash me back up to shore. Side note, I’m pretty sure my parents have some extremely embarrassing footage of that exact moment. Must dig the film out and dust it off. Mom, I apologize in advance for tearing your house apart looking for it. 😏
I also remember my first trip to Haiti after my freshman year of college. If I close my eyes I can remember walking out of the airport and going through sensory overload. If you’ve ever been to Haiti this will all sound familiar and if you haven’t.. Imagine this.... Every car horn going off, the smell of burning trash, 10+ Haitians flying at you wanting to take your luggage, a wall of people in bright colored clothes using the airport as a form of entertainment, humidity like you wouldn’t believe, and everyone screaming in a foreign language. This was my first trip out of the country. From the farm to impoverished island. From corn fields to sugar cane fields. From people who are unhappy with everything to people who are blissfully happy with nothing. Culture shock doesn’t even begin to describe what I had experienced but the memories I made and the people I met on that very trip, had changed my life forever. It’s these two moments, my defining moments that have given me a desire to explore the world, one state, one ocean, one country at a time. I've included some photos at the bottom of this post for your viewing pleasure!
So here it is.. Through Her Wandering Eyes is my online journal and photobook. I hope you find it to be entertaining, inspiring and full of life. You’ll read stories of new places I’ve explored, what it’s like to work remote, new recipes I’ve learned along the way, my favorite fashion finds and friends (new and old) who are making this experience unforgettable. I’m excited you’re going to be part of my journey. I’d love to hear from you so please don’t be shy.
PS: My writing skills are subpar. On top of the fabulous adventures, you will probably find a plethora of spelling and grammatical errors. Which is why you’ll be looking at more pictures than reading material. Thank you ahead of time for your grace :-)
